This project will deliver a modern, multi-use indoor facility designed to support sports, events, and community programming year-round. The proposed EVR Summit Centre will serve the Elk Valley, providing flexible space for recreation, tournaments, gatherings, and local events. Led by a not-for-profit society, this initiative is driven by community volunteers working to create an accessible, inclusive, and sustainable space for all.
With the closure of the Fernie Community Centre and an increasing demand for a recreation and event space, the Elk Valley is facing a critical gap in community infrastructure.
Let’s turn community support into a space for everyone.
Thanks to early momentum, community backing, and leadership support, this project is moving forward. However, continued support is essential to bring it to life.
The loss of the Fernie Community Centre left a significant gap in local infrastructure, impacting sports, events, youth programs, and the community. At the same time, the Elk Valley continues to grow, with increasing participation in recreational activities and rising demand for a flexible, multi-use space.

Nestled in the southeastern corner of British Columbia, the Elk Valley is a place where rugged mountain landscapes, pristine rivers, and welcoming communities come together. The region has a strong culture of recreation and community involvement, creating a growing need for accessible indoor spaces where people can stay active throughout the year. We are working to meet that need through the development of a multi-purpose indoor facility designed for sports, recreation, community events, and social connection.
